Word to Life Church International

On January 11, 2014 Word To Life Church International launched a new arm of the Benevolence Ministry called “Abba’s Shelter”. This Ministry reaches out to the homeless and less fortunate in Negril and its surroundings, to provide temporary shelter and assistance with basic necessities, helping them to become gainfully employed so they can become independent.

Two weeks prior to the launch of this Ministry we were engaged in a cleanup exercise of the church grounds when Pastor Richard came across this young man sitting on the back porch of the facility. After talking with him for a while Pastor discovered that he was homeless for eight months and was sleeping on the streets. The only clothes he had were the ones on his back and he had not eaten all day. We learnt that his mother died when he was only six years old and his father had put him out of the home to make life for himself. Upon discovering this, Pastor’s heart could not allow him to turn a blind eye at this young man and his situation so we began to seek means of assisting him. The Church along with two partners joined hands and hearts and we were able to acquire a house, provide clothing, food, and some basic amenities for Obrian.
